Note: The office of the Missouri State High School Activities Association has complete results of its state cross country meets from 1963 to 1978 (when A.L. Gustin Golf Course in Columbia was the meet site) and from 1980 to the present (when the site was shifted to Jefferson City). Records of state meet results from 1944 to 1962 (the meet site was Washington University and Forest Park in St. Louis) and 1979 (the first year at Jefferson City) are not available and have been obtained through newspaper microfilm. Many of the early years (the 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, and 1950 meets) contain team standings (order of finish) with missing team scores. Also missing are all of the individual medalists from the 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, and 1951 meets. Top 10 individual medalists are only available from the 1948, 1949, 1950 (top nine), 1952 and 1953 - it may have been that only 10 medalists were recognized during those years.

A number of district meet results are unavailable from the state activities association office. MSHSAA officials started having district qualifying meets in 1958. Prior to the time, no qualifying standards existed for entering teams in the state meet.

The state of Missouri has as rich of a high school cross-country history as any and a sincere attempt will be made to eventually document the team standings of every boys and girls state (there have been 220 different ones since 1944) and district meet along with state-meet medalists and state-meet qualifiers.
